The Absurd Historical Inversion of Comparing Gaza to the Holocaust

The claim that the situation in Gaza is a “new Holocaust” is an absurd historical inversion. It is not merely a display of ignorance or intellectually laziness. It is a sinister and calculated propaganda technique. The two events bear zero resemblance.

The Holocaust was the systematic, state-sponsored genocide of European Jewry and others by Nazi Germany. There are key distinctions compared to Gaza:

  • Target: Defenseless civilians – men, women, children – whose only crime was their identity.
  • Goal: Total, systematic extermination (“The Final Solution”) using industrial killing centers like Auschwitz-Birkenau and Dachau.
  • Agency: Victims were rounded up as defenseless prisoners. They were not combatants or part of an army/terror network.
  • Action: A one-sided act of premeditated mass murder carried out by the state against its unarmed civilian population.

The Gaza War is devastating, yes, by it is asymmetric conflict triggered by a terror attack:

  • Trigger: Hamas’s brutal, barbaric October 7th attack targeted Israeli civilians, including rape, torture, and mass murder.
  • Goal: Israel’s state military objective was to eliminate the military and governing capabilities of Hamas, a designated terror group.
  • Agency: The IDF is fighting Hamas, a combatant entity embedded within a civilian population living in Gaza. This makes the conflict horrific, but clearly different from the one-sided kind of extermination that unfolded during the Holocaust.
  • Actions: Israel dropped leaflets, established evacuation routes for civilians, and facilitated humanitarian aid.

Equating a war against a terror group to the systematic, premeditated industrial slaughter of unarmed, non-combatant civilians based solely on their identity is not a mistake. It is a grotesque propaganda tool designed to rationalize hatred of Israel and Jewish people today.

I reject this attempt at historical inversion, and you should too.
