Souad Mekhennet, co-author of “The Eternal Nazi” and visiting fellow at Harvard, Johns Hopkins and the Geneva Centre for Security policy, claims that the U.S. government trained the Islamic State rebels who they are now bombing in Iraq. According to Mekhennet, rebels that the US government trained when trying to topple Syrian president Bashar al Assad have joined the Islamic State.
